The Role of Government and the Economy

The first major difference between these views lies in the role of the state. Liberalism generally advocates for an active government that provides a safety net for its citizens. Liberals believe that the government should intervene in the economy to ensure fairness, such as through funding public schools or providing healthcare. In contrast, conservatism emphasizes limited government and individual responsibility. Conservatives often argue that high taxes and heavy regulation can stifle growth. They believe that a free market, rather than government programs, is the best way to create opportunities for everyone.
