Climate change fundamentally alters the global water cycle. Higher temperatures lead to increased evaporation from oceans, lakes, and soil. While this can cause heavy, destructive rainfall in some areas, it often leaves other regions completely parched. When the ground dries out during intense heat, it becomes harder for rainwater to soak into the earth. Instead of recharging underground supplies, the water simply runs off the surface. This cycle intensifies water scarcity by making rainfall unpredictable and less effective.
