Moral Absolutism and Divine Authority

Arguments for objective morality often rely on a source of authority that exists outside of human influence. Many people find this authority in religion, believing that moral laws are set by a divine creator. This perspective, known as moral absolutism, suggests that rules like "do not steal" are universal truths. However, this leads to a famous philosophical puzzle called the Euthyphro dilemma. The dilemma asks whether an action is good because a deity commands it, or if the deity commands it because the action is already good.
