Global warming refers specifically to the long term increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s climate system, an aspect of climate change demonstrated by direct temperature measurements and by measurements of various effects of the warming. The Mechanisms of the Greenhouse Effect

To understand global warming, one must first understand the greenhouse effect, a natural process that warms the Earth’s surface.
