Chicago 17th Edition citation format

Chicago style is widely used in history, art, and some social science disciplines. It offers two citation systems: notes-bibliography (common in humanities) and author-date (common in sciences). This generator uses the notes-bibliography format.

Key Chicago rules

  • Bibliography entries use inverted author names: Last, First.
