Strongest points
- The visible entry price is lower than many academic-writing competitors.
- The plans bundle a lot of capability, including frontier-model access on the higher tier.
- The long-term Believer option may appeal to users who like the product and want to lock in.
Biggest watch-outs
- The free tier is not clearly enumerated in the reviewed pricing materials.
- Refund rules depend on usage thresholds and subscription timing.
- The price story only works if you believe the quality and reliability are good enough to keep using the tool.
Trust and evidence
What we checked, and how recently
Direct testing, official product claims, pricing/policy checks, and public sentiment are kept as separate evidence layers so the page is easier to audit and easier to cite precisely.
Testing status
Docs and source verified
This page uses official documentation, pricing or policy pages, and public sentiment. Hands-on notes are only claimed when the ledger includes them.
Official sources
8 checked
Official docs, pricing, policy, product, or help-center pages, separated from user sentiment.
Sentiment layer
1 sources
Third-party and community feedback is read as a signal, not as proof of product capability.
Latest source check

Dates stay visible so pricing, feature, and policy claims can be rechecked instead of drifting silently.
Freshness
Pricing and policy claims are checked weekly because model menus, refund rules, and free-tier language move quickly.

Methodology. This page uses Yomu’s pricing and policy pages, recent update notes, and a limited amount of community feedback because the public review surface is still sparse.
Disclosure. EssayGenius is our product. We still treat pricing analysis as a separate evidence question and keep Yomu’s policy details visible so the reader can evaluate the tradeoff honestly.
Plans
Yomu AI price and limits as of May 4, 2026
| Plan | Current public price | Academic-writing limits that matter |
|---|---|---|
| Pro | $11/month billed annually, shown with a 40% discount badge. | Includes unlimited AI actions, premium features, priority support, academic writing/chat models, and advanced chat features such as chat with PDFs, images, academic search, web search, and library access. |
| Ultra | $18/month billed annually, also shown with a 40% discount badge. | Adds top/frontier model access, including the visible GPT-5, Claude 4.5 Sonnet/Opus, Gemini 3.0 Pro, DeepSeek v3, and Kimi K25 positioning, plus custom writing style support. |
| Believer | $499 one-time long-term deal. | A high-commitment offer for users who already trust Yomu; the page ties it to unlimited access to Claude 4.0 Opus and Ultra-plan premium models/features. |
| Free tier | A free path appears to exist, but the reviewed pricing page does not spell out the limits clearly. | That uncertainty matters because it changes the usefulness of the low-friction trial story. |

Value
When the price feels justified
Yomu’s pricing is easiest to justify when you are the kind of student who will actually use it like an everyday essay tool. In that case, the low monthly entry, model variety, citations, source library, and edit commands can plausibly save enough time to matter.
The value case gets weaker when the product is just one more tool in a crowded stack. If you only need occasional help, the subscription is buying feature breadth you may not fully use.
The real question is not whether the price is low. It is whether the quality and consistency are high enough to make the low price worth trusting.
Caveats
Billing caveats worth checking before you subscribe
Read the refund policy carefully.
Refund eligibility changes after more than seven AI actions in the current or past subscription periods, and yearly subscriptions have a separate time limit.
Treat one-time purchases differently.
Fixed AI-action purchases are non-refundable and never expire, which is useful only if you are sure you will use them.
Cancel from inside the app.
Yomu says subscription cancellation is self-serve from the subscription page, so billing confidence depends on using that flow rather than support email alone.
Positioning
Where EssayGenius can feel like the cleaner value
| If your priority is... | Better fit |
|---|---|
| The lowest visible entry price | Yomu AI |
| A calmer trust story and more opinionated essay workflow | EssayGenius |
| Frontier-model variety inside an essay app | Yomu AI |
A cheaper plan only feels cheaper if you are confident the product will hold up when you actually rely on it.
