Free vs Pro: what changes

Free is built for drafting: the editor, source search, citations, core export, and a monthly allowance of AI help. Pro is built for the last stretch before submission: review, citation integrity, voice tools, paper analysis, and research-backed revision.

What happens if you downgrade or cancel

Your essays are not deleted. At the end of the current billing period, your account drops back to the free-tier limits. You can upgrade again later without rebuilding your library or rewriting the essay setup.

Monthly, semester, and annual billing

Pro is $15/month, $40 for 4 months on the Semester Pass, or $108/year ($9/month effective) on annual billing. Card is collected at checkout, the first charge is processed when you complete checkout, and the subscription renews automatically until you cancel from billing settings. You choose your billing cycle during checkout. When cadence switching is enabled, Settings > Plan & billing shows a Change action; payment methods and invoice history still live in Stripe's billing portal.

The Pricing page and checkout flow show the current subscription price. Inside Settings, Plan & billing shows your current tier, usage, cadence, cancellation or reactivation state, and Stripe portal access for payment methods and invoices.
